12 well-crafted business ideas were presented by the participants. These business ideas ranged from tour companies, consulting services in athletics and human resources, creative art, a student study/tutoring app and more.

The overall winner of the Pitch Competition was Tyrie Moss who received first place for the Best Tech Business idea. Mr. Moss’ business idea is a mobile tutoring app for students of all ages, named STUDYPELAGO. Mr. Moss commends the program for producing an inclusive event, catering to all levels of business whether in infancy, recovery or progression stages.

Also securing a top prize was Ms. Brianne Donaldson, in the category of Best Creative Industries. Ms. Duncanson’s business offers a marketplace to market minority categorized artists and creatives, called Toasted S'mores’. Ms. Donaldson proudly said that she gained added experience, got exposure to more customers and the confidence to speak more about her business and answer questions, because of her participation in the UB IGNITE program.

Ms. Keira Cox walked away with the Best Retail Products and Services award, with her aromatic beads featuring Bahamian inspired fragrances, such as Harbour Island Pink Sand. Ms. Cox expressed her gratitude for the opportunities gained through the program and the competition.

UB IGNITE plans to host at least one Pitch Competition each year for its Business Incubator participants and looks forward to another diverse slate of business ideas.
